Shanghai, China (Urban Transport News): China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. on Monday commenced joint testing and commissioning of Zhaodian–Huangdu High Speed Rail section of Nantong-Shanghai Railway (Tonghu Railway) in China. The Nantong-Shanghai Railway is an important part of the coastal corridor of the “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed rail network in the national mid- and long-term railway network planning. The first phase id from Zhaodian to Huangdu which is starting from Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, and ends at Jiading District, Shanghai. The second phase of the project (from Taicang to Siantuan Section) is starting from Taicang City, Jiangsu Province, and ending at Fengxian District, Shanghai.
The Zhaodian-Huangdu section of the Nantong-Shanghai Railway runs from the existing Nanjing-Qidong Railway Zhaodian Station, and the southbound crosses the Yangtze River. It is introduced via Zhangjiagang City, Changshu City, Taicang City, Jiading District, Shanghai, and Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. Anting West Station, via the existing Beijing-Shanghai Railway to Huangdu Station, has a total length of 137.5 kilometers and a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. It has Zhaodian, Nantong West, Zhangjiagang North, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Taicang Port, Taicang, and Taicang South, 9 stations in Anting West, reserved Changshu East Station.
Construction of Zhaodian to Huangdu section of the Nantong-Shanghai Railway commenced in August 2014 in a scientific and orderly manner. The China Railway Group has thoroughly implemented the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to promote epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, adhere to the “two hands” of epidemic prevention and control and project construction, strictly implement the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, and strengthen project quality and safety management. The resumption of the project began in an orderly manner, and construction was accelerated. After tireless efforts by railway builders, the subgrade, bridge, track laying, “four power” and station building projects of the Zhaodian-Huangdu section of Tonghu-Shanghai Railway have been completed, and the joint testing and commissioning began.
The joint testing and commissioning are started to ensure the safe and stable operation of the train, and conduct rigorous test inspection and equipment adjustment and optimization before the line is opened. The railway department has arranged comprehensive testing of trains going online and running at different speed levels to verify system performance such as rail, power supply, catenary, communications, signals, and early warning monitoring, and integrated the interfaces and matching relationships between each system and related systems. This test will ensure the performance of each system and the overall system meet the design standards and operating requirements. The trial run of the high-speed train from Zhaodian to Huangdu section of the Nantong-Shanghai Railway is already completed. After successfully testing and commissioning this section will be operational for the public.
