Kolkata, India (Urban Transport News): The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) invites bids from the civil contractors and M&P suppliers for the construction of Joka depot for Line 3 of the Kolkata Metro Rail project.

Scope of Work

Construction of PEB sheds, structures, buildings, P-way and utilities, general electrical works and supply, installation, and commissioning of machinery and plant for setting up of Metro Car Depot at Joka in connection with Joka-Esplanade Metro Line of Kolkata Metro Rail project.

Project information

As per the tender document, Joka Depot will be developed and consist of 12 stabling lines with a provision to build an additional 11 lines in the future, 2 inspection bays, 2 lifting bays, 2 workshop bays, one bogie shop, a turn-table, and an automatic coach washing plant. The depot will serve 14.215 km long Line-3 (Joka-Esplanade) of Kolkata Metro Rail project which is under construction since 2011. This line consists of a total of 14 metro stations mixed of elevated and underground. Out of 14.215 km, around 8.5 kilometres of the corridor will be elevated and the rest 6.32 kilometres will be underground.
