BEML commences production of sleeper version of Vande Bharat Trains

Bengaluru, India (Urban Transport News): The Indian Railways has taken a significant stride in its pursuit of enhanced travel experiences, with the Vande Bharat sleeper train entering the production stage. Designed to surpass the standards set by the renowned Rajdhani Express trains, this prototype marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of the country's railway infrastructure. Today witnessed the initiation of production at BEML's Bangalore complex, with esteemed personalities such as Railway Board Member (Traction & Rolling Stock) Naveen Gulati, ICF GM BG Mallya, and BEML CMD Shantanu Roy gracing the occasion. The Vande Bharat sleeper train, with its promise of a world-class travel experience, is poised to redefine passenger comfort and convenience in the realm of railway travel. Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML expressed BEML's commitment to delivering the first Vande Bharat sleeper prototype by March 2024. Anticipating a 16-coach train capable of achieving speeds of up to 160 kmph, the Vande Bharat sleeper train will house 1 AC 1st coach, 4 AC 2-tier coaches, and 11 AC 3-tier coaches, boasting an impressive total berth capacity of 823.

Roy emphasized that the design and internal furnishing of the train are tailored to optimize passenger comfort, particularly during long-distance travel. The Vande Bharat sleeper train's interior is poised to surpass the benchmark set by the Rajdhani Express, drawing inspiration from the superior train models operational in various foreign countries. Notably, the train's distributed control system and fully electric propulsion-driven system, as opposed to the conventional push-pull locomotive setup, aim to ensure a seamless and comfortable journey for passengers, mitigating disturbances and ensuring a smooth ride.
