Afcons Infrastructure wins ₹1,779 crore underground civil contract for Delhi Metro Phase 4

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) on December 14, 2021 opened the financial bids for underground civil contract package DC-09 for the construction of 6.51 km section (with twin-tunnels) of 23.622 km Silver Line (Tughlakabad - Delhi Aerocity) of Delhi Metro Phase 4.

As per the bid result announced by DMRC, Indian major infra firm Afcons Infrastructre Limited emerge as the lowest bidder (L1) by beating other five bidders. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

  • Afcons Infrastructre Ltd: Rs 1,779 crore (L1)
  • ITD Cementation India Ltd: Rs 2,029 crore (L2)
  • Gülermak Heavy Industries Construction & Contracting: Rs 2,329 crore (L3)
  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd: Rs 2,610 crore (L4)

However, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (STEC) and Joint Venture of Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd and Hindistan Construction Company (HCC) did not qualified in technical round. Hence, their financial bids were not opened.

Tender for the contract package DC-09 was invited in May 2021 with estimated cost of Rs 1427.872 crore. Technical bids were opened in August 2021.

The scope of work includes design and construction of Twin Tunnel (Up & Down Line) by Shield TBM, Cut and Cover Tunnel box, Underground Ramp and four Underground stations namely Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU and Neb Sarai with Entry/Exits & Connecting subways from chainage 5356.285 mtr. to 11867.000 mtr. of Aerocity to Tughlakabad Corridor of Phase-IV of Delhi Metro Rail Project. The work completion period is 42 months.

Now bids have been sent for the final evaluation.

Afcons Infrastrucrure Ltd is earlier emerged as lowest bidder (L1) in other two contract packages (DC-05 & DC-07) of Delhi Metro Phase 4. However, DMRC has not yet issued Letter of Acceptance to the firm.

The new 23.622 km Silver Line of Delhi Metro will connect Tughlakabad to Delhi Aerocity with 15 (4 Elevated & 11 Underground) stations. The construction completion deadline of this new corridor is scheduled for 2025.
