Kanpur, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) on 2nd September 2020 opened the financial bids of the electrification contract (package KNPE 1&2) which was floated for providing third line electrification system for the priority corridor of Kanpur Metro Rail project.
As per the financial bid result announced by UPMRC, the Sterling & Wilson-led consortium emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) among the other three contenders. The financial position of all participants/bidders are as under:
UPMRC had notified the tender in February this year and the tender committee has completed the technical evaluation on 25th August 2020. As per the tender notice, the estimated value of this contract was Rs 500 crores.
The scope of work includes Design, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Receiving cum Auxiliary Main Sub Stations Including High Voltage Cabling from Grid Substations, 750 Volts DC 3rd Rail Traction System, 33kV Cable Network, ASS, TSS & SCADA System for Corridor-1 & 2 of Kanpur Metro Rail Project in Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh, India. The work is expected to be completed in 40 months.
Sterling & Wilson Pvt. Ltd. is a subsidiary company of Shapoorji Pallonji Group and GSC Construction Company is a Russian firm.
Recently, the European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a loan agreement with UPMRC to provide financial assistance worth 650 Million Euro for the Kanpur Metro Rail project.
