Tata-led consortium bags Rs 106 million consultancy contract of Agra Metro

Agra (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (formerly known as Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation) has issued letter of acceptance (LoA) to the consortium of Tata Consulting Engineers Limited (TCE), 3TI Progetti Italia-Ingegneria Integrata S.P.A. and Leap Infrasys Private Limited for a contract worth Rs 10.62 crore for design consultancy work for corridor-I of Agra Metro Rail project on November 13, 2019.

The scope of work includes detailed design consultancy (DDC) services for civil, architectural, electrical and mechanical (E&M), traction and power supply works for the Sikandra-Taj Mahal East Gate corridor (Corridor 1) of the Agra Metro Rail Project. In September 2019, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) had shortlisted two firms viz. consortium of Systra MVA Consulting (India) Private Limited and Systra, France; and Tata Consulting Engineers Limited (TCE) in consortium with 3TI Progetti Italia-Ingegneria Integrata S.P.A. and Leap Infrasys Private Limited.

The tender was floated by UPMRCL in June this year. Recent Development in Project The Agra district administration has constituted a team of 20-member under the sub-divisional magistrate (Sadar) to identify land for the Agra metro rail project. The team has been given the responsibility to identify land required for developing the two metro corridors and yards. Updating about the new development, Garima Singh, SDM (Sadar), said:

The exercise to identify land for the Agra metro rail project has been started. However, no time frame has been determined to complete the same as no-objection certificates (NOC) have to be taken from various departments before finalizing the land. The team will then submit a report to the state government.

The UPMRCL has received no-objection certificates from Agra municipal corporation, Jal Sansthan, Agra Development Authority and Agra Smart City Private Limited have so far for the Agra metro rail project. However, Archaeological Survey of India (ACI), forest department, provincial armed constabulary, and defense estate are yet to issue no-objection certificates for the metro rail project works.

In February 2019, the Central Government cabinet had approved the Rs 8,379.62 crore Agra metro rail project which is likely to be completed in five years. A total of 27 stations would be developed along 29.4 km of the two metro rail corridors in the city. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) would be responsible for the time-bound implementation of the metro rail project in Agra.
