Systra to complete stations design of Kanpur Metro project by March 15

Kanpur, India (Urban Transport News): Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) has targeted to complete the design work of underground and elevated metro stations of Kanpur Metro during the lockdown period. At present, the team of UPMRCL along with the consultancy firm Systra MVA India has started the work of designing the metro stations vigorously. UPMRCL Managing Director Kumar Keshav said that the lockdown is going on in the country to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus (COVID-19). Therefore, the construction work of the Kanpur Metro Rail project is completely closed.

With the stoppage of construction work, UPMRCL has started finalizing the design of Kanpur metro stations. He said that Kanpur is a very important city from a commercial point of view. Therefore, the consultancy firm Systra has been asked to give a glimpse of it in the design. He further said that Systra has been given the task to complete the design work online and complete the work of Kanpur Metro Station in a couple of days as the construction work of the metro project will be closed during the lockdown. So every single day during lockdown is very valuable for us.

The Managing Director is also utilising their staff to prepare trains and metro stations of Lucknow Metro neat and clean before the opening of metro services in the capital. He personally carrying inspection of preventive and other maintenance work from time to time. He also monitoring proper sanitization of metro trains and stations in wake of COVID-19.

During the inspection, he took a special review that the masks, sanitizer, paper napkins, and soaps are available at each station to which are deployed at various metro stations during the period of lockdown and also advised to switch off the lights which are not in use. As per the direction of Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, all construction and metro operation work has been closed for 21 days with effect from 25th March 2020.
