Sam India Builtwell wins Rs 273 crore first civil contract package of Agra Metro project

Lucknow, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) today opened financial bids of Contract Package AGCC-01 which was floated to construct a 4 km elevated viaduct and three stations of the Agra Metro Rail project.

As per the result announced by the UPMRC, SAM (India) Builtwell Pvt Limited emerged as the lowest bidder among the other two contenders. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

  • Sam (India) Builtwell Private Limited - Rs 272.9 crore (L1)
  • URC Construction Private Limited - Rs 301.34 crore (L2)
  • Afcons Infrastructure Private Limited - Rs 355.08 crore (L3)

The scope of work includes the construction of the elevated viaduct and 3 nos. elevated metro stations (viz. Taj East Gate, Basai & Fatehabad Road) including civil, architectural finished, water supply, fire fighting, fire detection, E&M works and PEB structures on Priority Corridor-1 of Agra Metro Rail project. The estimated completion period for this work is 26 months.

The tender was invited in August 2020 by the UPMRC with the estimated value of work Rs 290 crore. Technical bids were opened on 5th October 2020.

The bids now sent for technical and financial evaluation. If everything found OK by the evaluation committee then UPMRC will issue a letter of acceptance (LoA) in favour of the bidder to start the work. However, SAM (India) Builtwell has quoted a lower amount than the UPMRC's estimate i.e. Rs 290 crore.

On 14th October 2020, Lisha Engineers have been awarded a contract worth Rs 112.63 crore for the construction of PAC depot of Agra Metro Rail project. The work includes Civil, PEB and E&M work for construction of Depot cum workshop, including O&M quarters & structural, architectural, plumbing, external development, VAC, firefighting, etc. at PAC Land Depot for corridor-1. 

The 14.25 km long Corridor 1 of the Agra Metro Rail project will connect Sikandra to Taj East Gate through 14 stations.
