Manoj Joshi takes charge of General Manager of Metro Railway Kolkata

Kolkata, India (Urban Transport News): Railway Board, Ministry of Railways has appointed 1983 batch Mechanical Engineer Manoj Joshi as General Manager of Kolkata Metro Railway.  Joshi has taken over the charge of General Manager of Metro Railway on 14th January 2020.

The position was vacant after the selection of P.C. Sharma, ex-General Manager of Kolkata Metro Railway as Member Railway Board (Material Management) and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India on October 11, 2019. Joshi is a senior officer of Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) of 1983 batch.

He is an Engineering graduate (B.E. in Mechanical) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and has done his Executive MBA from Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon. He has also attended training programs in Advance Strategic Management at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. Prior to this appointment, he was Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME) of Central Railway.

During his 34 years of illustrious career in Indian Railways, he has worked as Chief Administrative Officer, Central Organization for Modernization of Workshop (COFMOW), General Manager, Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES Limited), Director, Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO), Chief Workshop Engineer (CWE) and Chief Rolling Stock Engineer (CRSE), South Western Railway (SWR), Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Guntakal Division, South Central Railway (SCR).

Joshi has also made several contributions to various system improvements in various Railway divisions where he had worked.
