Osaka, Japan (Urban Transport News): Kawasaki Heavy Industries has introduced Corleo, a groundbreaking hydrogen-powered, four-legged robotic vehicle designed for riders, at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. This innovative concept merges artificial intelligence and clean energy technology to create a versatile mobility platform capable of navigating diverse terrains.

Corleo's design features four independent robotic legs, allowing it to move with balance and stability across various surfaces. Each leg operates separately, enabling the robot to traverse rough and uneven terrain with remarkable ease.

At the heart of Corleo is a 150cc hydrogen engine, which generates electricity to power the vehicle's limbs, making it a sustainable solution for off-road mobility. This hydrogen-powered system positions Corleo as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional off-road vehicles, aligning with the growing shift toward clean energy in transportation.

The robotic vehicle's aesthetic draws inspiration from Kawasaki's renowned motorcycle designs. Corleo boasts a sleek body crafted from a blend of metal and carbon materials, with a head-like shield at the front, reminiscent of a motorcycle, and built-in lights to ensure visibility in various lighting conditions.

Unlike conventional vehicles, Corleo does not rely on traditional controls. Instead, it responds intuitively to the rider's body movements. By shifting their center of gravity, riders can prompt the robot to adjust its steps and movement. A heads-up display (HUD) provides real-time data on hydrogen levels, navigation, and movement stability, including weight distribution.

For added stability, Corleo is equipped with rubber “hooves” that enhance grip on both hard and soft surfaces, allowing it to maintain control even in challenging environments. The robot also has the ability to jump over obstacles, although specific performance metrics such as jump height or speed have not been disclosed.

At this stage, Corleo remains a conceptual model, and Kawasaki has not yet released technical details such as speed, range, or battery life. However, the company envisions a potential market release by 2050, although no specific development timeline or commercial availability details have been provided.
