CMRS to conduct safety check of Dilshad Garden-Ghaziabad section soon

New Delhi (Urban Transport News): After approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB), the Central Government has released the funds for Delhi Metro's Dilshad Garden - New Bus Stand (Ghaziabad) corridor. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has now started preparations to open the section as soon as possible. Due to the non-issuance of funds, safety inspection of this section has not yet been done. The first priority of the DMRC is to now get the safety clearance of this section from the Commissioner of Metro Railways Safety (CMRS).

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has completed all the paper works from its part. Only after the approval of the funds have some formalities left which will be completed in 2-3 days.  A letter for safety inspection of this new section will be sent to the Commissioner of Metro Railways Safety (CMRS) by Thursday or Wednesday. The CMRS may likely to carry out the inspection of the section in next week. If everything found Ok and getting CMRS clearance the section will be open for the public soon. According to DMRC officials, it will be tried to open this section as soon as possible.

There has already been a lot of delays and due to which DMRC is facing economic losses in a way. The trial of this section has already been completed. This new section is the extension of the oldest red line (Line-1) of the Delhi Metro, in which DMRC expects that CMRS will also issue safety clearance after the safety inspection soon. Officials say that this section can be opened for passenger service before 15th February.

Millions of people benefit from this section This 9.6 km long Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand (Ghaziabad) built under Phase-III of Delhi Metro has been constructed in 8 metro stations on the elevated corridor. These include Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthla, Hindon River and New Bus Stand Metro Station. The opening of this section will make it easy for those who arrive in Ghaziabad from North-East Delhi. This is likely to reduce the speed on the GT road.
