Inspired to make a continuous positive impact towards promoting the rail industry as a great place to work to the youngster, inspire the next generation of railway talent, and develop their leadership excellence in the ASEAN region. The fellows of the young railway professional in ASEAN are coming together to organize the FIRST ASEAN Youth Railway Summit Webinar.
That is why PT INKA's youngsters, along with KTMB's, PNR, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, LRMC's Youngsters, initiated the very first ASEAN Youth Railway Summit webinar. With the hope that this summit can be continued in series as an opportunity to promote networking among ASEAN young railway professionals while leveraging on the ASEAN Railway Industry and its Online Collaborative Platform. And also hope that this will also provide a robust platform for ASEAN young railway professionals to share, discuss, about the new notion that relates to the rail industry and elevate their potential and impact.
The topic of this webinar raises the most discussed issue which has been around in the mind of the young professional in the railway business, "Role of the Millenials in Railway Business in the pandemic era." This topic encourages all ASEAN professionals in railway business to start questioning what we can do? Get an answer and to start taking action.
As many more ASEAN-related events, this event is also supported by the ASEAN secretariat; this proves that the ASEAN community is in line with the ASEAN railway professionals. Which is to promote the ASEAN motto "One Vision, One Identity, One Community."
A presentation opened the event by Kristianto Usman, Ph.D. with the topic "Asset and Risk Management for Railway Business Development in the Pandemic era", then continued with the subject "Urban Rail Operation Management and The New Normal" Mohd Firdaus Mohamad Idris, P.Tech, PMP, M.Eng, P.Eng, MIEM from Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.
This event was followed by featuring several representatives of train operators in Southeast Asia such as HR Manager - KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad - Malaysia) represented by Anizah Abdul Wahab, then Senior Corporate Attorney Philippine National Railway (PNR), Maria Cresielda Ecalnea, and senior Procurement Manager Light Manila Rail Corporation (LRMC), Julius Valenzuela.
Farinda Cesarizka Rahmita, Corporate Development, hosted this event Officer of PT INKA. KTMB Chief Operation Officer, Suhaimi Yacoob, through the comments column on YouTube, stated that this event is perfect for young people in the railroad sector. "Welcome, All! This is a good Platform for railways across the region -a shout out for all millennials to champion the industry. The industry needs the young to champion the course," he wrote.
The event takes place on Saturday, 22nd of August 2020, via zoom and PT INKA's YouTube Channel. Nearly 530 registered participants attended this event, and many more are watching through Youtube Channel
Hopefully, this event will start a movement to start realizing that the ASEAN railway industry cannot grow individually; it has to start realizing that each country's railway industry is a part of a bigger community, ASEAN community.
