Moscow Transport opened second electric bus depot in Mitino district

Moscow, Russia (Urban Transport News): Moscow has announced the opening of the second high-tech electric bus depot in the Mitino district in the northwest of Moscow. The area of the new electric bus depot is more than 9,4 hectares, it is enough for the operation up to 300 electric buses. The depot will serve 23 electric bus routes in Northwest Administrative District and North Administrative District by the end of 2024.

The daily trips will become more comfortable and eco-friendlier due to the operation of the second in Russia electric bus depot. Moscow surface public transport will come to the bus stations more often and faster — the waiting time will shrink up to 30%, the replacement of diesel buses with the electric ones will improve the ecosystem in the district. Besides, the opening of the electric bus depot will provide people with more than 550 new working places close to home. The depot has created a comfortable working environment – large canteen, break rooms and gym to make the life and working conditions even more convenient for the employees.

"Moscow is the Europe’s leader in terms of the development and the use of electric transport — today 1100 electric buses operate in the city. Last week the Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin opened the second Russian electric bus depot. The innovative Russian-made electric buses will operate on 23 electric bus fleets in Northwest Administrative District and North Administrative District. Putting Russian-made electric buses on the routes will improve the city's environment and passenger comfort," said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.

One of the main advantages of the new electric bus depot is the setting of 210 modern charging stations, with energy coming from 37 charging stations with dynamic power sharing system. These measures, in turns, will increase the regularity and safety of the daily trips as well as reduce the maintenance cost due to reduction in zero mileage.
