MMRDA and GMRC to appoint consultants for non-fare box revenue study

Mumbai/Ahmedabad, India (Urban Transport News): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has called the request for proposals (RfP) for selection of consultants for Non-Fare Box Revenue Sources Study and Bid Process Management. MMRDA vide its notice no. MMRDA/Metro PIU/TP Unit/2020 dated 28.04.2020 is inviting RfP for the selection of consultants for Non-Fare Box Revenue Sources Study and Bid Process Management for Metro Line 7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East) and Metro Line 2A (Dahisar East to D.N. Nagar). Tender documents can be downloaded from MMRDA's e-tendering portal from 28.04.2020 to 15.06.2020. The pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 25.05.2020 at 15.00 hrs. The last date for submission of RfP is 15.06.2020 up to 1700 hrs. and the tender will be opened on 17.06.2020 at 11.00 hrs. Similarily, GMRC vide its notice no. GMRC/NFBR/01/2020 on 19.02.2020 has invited RfP for the selection of Consultants for identifying Alternate Revenue Models/Non-fare Box Revenue Models for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase –1. In February, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) have found some alternate ways to increase revenue from non-fare box beyond the model introduced by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). They have introduced an option to the public for celebrating birthday, marriage and other parties in metro coaches. At present, some of the metro operators including DMRC is exercising following non-fare box options to increase revenue:-

• General consultancy
• Training to other metro officials
• Semi-naming of metro stations
• Indoor and outdoor advertising
• Parking facility at metro stations
• Licensing of commercial spaces at metro stations
• Offering spaces for food and other kiosks at metro stations
• Offering metro premises for film shootings, events, and birthday parties
• Electrical vehicle charging facility at metro stations premises
