Construction work of Delhi Metro Phase IV project commenced today

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): After a delay of three years, the construction work of Phase IV of Delhi Metro Rail project is finally started today. The team of KEC International Ltd. in presence of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials has commenced a piling test near Haidrpur Badli More on the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor. Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director along with other seniors officials of DMRC have also joined the occasion. The 28.92 km long Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor is an extension of the Magenta Line-8 (Botanical Garden-Janakpuri West) of the Delhi Metro Rail network.  "Phase 4 construction work of Delhi Metro started today at Haiderpur Badli Mor in the presence of Dr. Mangu Singh, MD/DMRC, and other senior officials.

The new sections shall provide interconnectivity among the already operational sections of Delhi Metro", said in the official statement issued by DMRC. In November 2019, the DMRC had issued a letter of acceptance (LOA) worth Rs 954.87 crores to KEC International Limited for Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct, Elevated Ramp, Siding line and Ten Elevated Stations viz. Keshopur, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi, Mangolpuri, West Enclave, Pushpanjali, Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar & North Pitampura (Excluding Architectural Finishing works of stations, Steel FOB & PEB works of stations) from Chainage 2831.235 mt. to 15206.166 mt. of Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Corridor. As per the terms of LOA, the construction work on this corridor is expected to be completed in 2.5 years. The Janakpuri West – RK Ashram Marg corridor will have a total of 22 stations and the contract on the remaining 12 stations is not yet finalized. In this stretch, three interchange stations at Peeragarhi (with Green Line), Madhuban Chowk (with Red Line) and Haiderpur Badli Mor (with Yellow Line) will be constructed.

According to the design of Haiderpur Badli Mor station, the Phase 4 platforms will be constructed above Phase 3 station which will also the highest ever platform in Delhi Metro Rail network at a height of 23.5 meters. At present, the Phase III station platform at Mayur Vihar Phase 1 is at a height of 22 meters while the Karkardooma station is at a height of 20 meters.

On Janakpuri West – RK Ashram Marg corridor a total of six interchanges will be constructed. The other three interchange stations will be Majlis Park (with Pink Line), Azadpur (with Yellow and Pink Lines) and R K Ashram Marg (with Blue Line).
