MMRDA to commence trial run on Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 from May 31

Mumbai, India (Urban Transport News): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on May 25, 2021, informed that the trial run on Mumbai Metro's line 2A (Dahisar - DN Nagar) and Line 7 (Dahisar East - Andheri East) will be commenced from July 31, 2021. 

MMRDA said that that the Chief Electrical Inspector of the Government of India (CEIG) has completed his inspection of the Over Head Equipment (OHE) line of Metro line 2A successfully for the 20-km section from Dahisar to Kamraj Nagar via video call.

"Line 2A trial section from Dahisar to Kamraj Nagar and up to depot loop line has been energized at 25KV today, trials will start on 31st May from Charkop depot to Aarey as OHE of Line-7 has also been successfully energized," said MMRDA.

The OHE of Line 7 (Array to Dahisar) and Line 2A (from Charkop Depot entry point to Dahisar (East) have been charged successfully on May 24 and May 25 respectively. 

Despite Covid-19 situations and restrictions put by the Government, MMRDA has successfully managed to complete the work on this 20km stretch. The trial run on the remaining section will be expanded once the pending work completed.

Recently, MMRDA had appointed a consultant to evaluate the assets of Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Versova - Andheri - Ghatkopar) to initiate the taking-over process of the corridor.

The total distance of these two corridors is comprising 35 km. The 18.5 km Metro 2 will connect Dahisar East to Andheri East through 16 stations and Metro 7 spans 16.47 km will connect Dahisar East to DN Nagar through 13 stations. The structure of both lines will be elevated.

State-owned PSU BEML Limited had delivered the first set of six-coach metro train in January this year. The Train is stabled at Charkop depot. The dynamic test of this train set was carried out in February.
