ITD Cementation wins Rs 334 crore civil contract of Surat Metro Rail project (Image for representation only)

Surat, India (Urban Transport News): The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (GMRC) on June 10, 2021, opened financial bids for the contract package DC-01 for the construction of Depot and Headquarters for the Surat Metro Rail project at Dream City.

As per the financial bid result, ITD Cementation (India) Limited emerged as the lowest bidder among the other eight bidders who participated in the tender. Here is the financial position of each bidder:

  • ITD Cementation (India) Ltd: Rs 334.13 crores (L1)
  • KEC International Ltd: Rs 346.28 crores (L2)
  • URC Construction Pvt. Ltd.: Rs 352.10 crores (L3)
  • Ranjit Buildcon Ltd: Rs 356.51 crores (L4)
  • Sam (India) Builtwell: Rs 359.34 crores (L5)
  • ISGEC Heavy Engineering: Rs 365.71 crores (L6)
  • PSP Projects Limited: Rs 386.02 crores (L7)
  • Engineering Projects (India) Ltd: Rs 397.34 crores (L8)
  • Kunal Structures India Pvt Ltd: Rs 436.38 crores (L9)

The scope of work includes, Development and Construction of Dream City Depot including Metro Bhavan, OCC and associated E & M works under corridor C1, Sardhana to Dream city, in connection with Surat Metro Rail Project, Phase-1.

  • Construction of Boundary Wall of Depot complex, Metro Bhavan & OCC.
  • Earthwork and Land Area Grading works.
  • Construction of service buildings, offices for O&M organization, operation control room, canteen, sub-stations etc. These will be RCC framed structures – column and beam type – on open/raft/pile foundations.
    Construction of workshop/shed structures, pre-engineering/ prefabricated, with roofing, ACP cladding, glazing etc.
  • Architectural Finishing works including granite/marble flooring, stone cladding, metal cladding and/or aluminum/glazing etc.
  • HVAC works in some buildings.
  • General electrification, E&M works, fire detection/suppression works, installation of heavy-duty compressors, DG sets, EOT cranes, general illumination, light towers, BMS/LAN etc.
  • Water supply and drainage works
  • Internal roads and Depot approach road, formation and final surfacing
  • Cable trenches
  • Landscaping
  • Any other work associated with the above scope that is necessary for commencing of Depot

The tender for the above work was floated in January this year with an estimated cost of Rs 346 crore. As the ITD Cementation (India) has quoted below the GMRC's estimate, there are too much chances to issued the letter of acceptance to the firm to commence the construction work as soon s possible. The contractor has to complete the work in 20 months.

The Dream City depot will feed trains for 21.61 km Line 1 that will connect Sardhana to Dream city with 20 stations (14 elevated and 6 underground stations).
