Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) last week cancelled the ongoing tendering process for the selection of General Consultants for providing general engineering consultancy services for 26.01 km Corridor 4 (Light House - Poonamallee) of Phase 2 of Chennai Metro Rail Project.
"Due to administrative reasons, the current RFP for Selection of General Consultant (GC) for Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 Project – Corridor 4 is cancelled," said an official release issued by CMRL. However, sources said that some of the participants were not happy with the parameters and methods being used by CMRL during the evaluation of bids. Hence, the tendering process cancelled before the opening of financial bids.
In January 2020, CMRL had launched a global tender and invited Expression of Interests (EOIs) for the selection of General Consultants to provide General Consultancy Services to assist CMRL in the preparation and implementation of Corridor 4 of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project. A total of 9 proposals received from -
in June 2020. A total of 7 consortia shortlisted to submit their bids in August 2020. Out of four consortia disqualified during the technical evaluation stage and finally three consortia (JV of AECOM Asia Company Ltd., SYSTRA and Consulting Engineers Group (CEG) Ltd.; JV of Egis Rail SA, MM SPA, Italferr SPA and Surbano Jurong Infrastructure Pte Ltd and JV of Louis Berger SAS, Geodata Engineering SpA and Hill International Inc.) have been shortlisted in February 2021.
Now CMRL has decided to issue a fresh tender for the selection of General Consultants for Corridor 4 of Phase 2 of Chennai Metro Rail project which will connect Lighthouse with Poonamallee Bypass via Porur through 28 stations – 18 elevated and 10 underground.
In 2019, a consortium of Nippon Koei – Aarvee Associates – Balaji Railroads Systems was appointed as General Consultant for Corridor 3 & Corridor 5 of Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro Rail project.
