Bids invited for geo-technical work of Kolkata Metro's Line 4 Extension

Kolkata, India (Urban Transport News): The Metro Railway, Kolkata invites bids for selection of consultant for conducting surveys, geotechnical investigation, soil testing and prepare designs for Koltaka Metro's Line 4 extension project. The 3.6-km stretch is an extension of 6.87-km long Kolkata Metro Line 4 (NSCB International Airport-New Barrackpore).

Scope of work

Execution of preliminary works for survey, geotechnical investigation, preparation of conceptual design, tender drawings, architectural drawings, preparing of DBR, tender documents for EPC including specifications and schedule of bill of quantity (BOQ) with rates and rate analysis etc. detail design & drawing of subway & dispersal and proof checking of detail design & drawing for underground construction of double line, multiple line and station building by cut and cover method, beyond Bimanbandar Yard to New Barrackpore ch 7100m to ch 10700m in connection with extension of Metro Railway from Noapara to Barasat via Bimanbandar (Airport).

About the project

This 3.6 km underground section of 6.87 km long Line-4 of Kolkata Metro Rail project will be built using the cut-cover method without deploying tunnel boring machines and consist of 3 new metro stations at Birati, Michael Nagar and New Barrackpore. The alignment of Kolkata Metro Line 4 has been revised and a new station was proposed at Michael Nagar. This 3.4 km underground stretch will be built up to New Barrackpore Station. The estimated project cost of this extension line is Rs 1,615 crore. Due to objections from Airport Authority of India (AAI), now the New Garia line will continue till Barasat and the Noapara-Airport line will terminate at Biman Bandar (Dum-Dum Airport).
