Alstom to deliver first trainset for Kanpur Metro by September this year UPMRC team at Alstom's Savli Plant

Savli, India (Urban Transport News): Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) is aiming trial run on the 8-km Priority Corridor of the Kanpur Metro Project in November this year. Moving ahead towards this aim with the utmost dedication, UPMRC is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the arrival of the first Metro train set in the coming September. Metro trains (Rolling Stocks) for the project are being manufactured in Savli, Gujrat with the state-of-the-art technology and standards.

For reviewing the progress of manufacturing, UPMRC’s Managing Director Kumar Keshav and the Director, (Operations) Sushil Kumar visited the Alstom's Savli Plant today and observed that the trains are in the final stages of assembling & testing and are expected to reach Kanpur by the end of September.

"Kanpur Metro trains are being manufactured with the most advanced and state-of-the-art technologies. The safety and comfort aspects of the passengers have been kept paramount in the designing of these trains. We are strictly abiding by the deadline that we have decided for the trial run on the Priority Corridor and we are moving ahead with full zeal and dedication," said Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC.

A total of 39 trainsets consisting of 3 coaches each are to be supplied by Alstom for the operation on both the corridors of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project. Initially, operations of metro trains on the Priority Corridor will be executed with 8 trains. These trains have been designed with assistance from Bombardier Germany and design experts at Bombardier's Hyderabad office.

State-of-the-art trains in line with utmost passenger safety and energy conservation!
These ‘Make in India’ Metro trains are equipped with Communication Based Train Control System (CBTC) for Automatic Train Operations. These ultramodern trains are having state of the art design for safe operation and passenger comforts. These trains will also be equipped with a CO2 sensor-based air-conditioning system to save energy during operations.
